Register now. We continue our discussions on books about social justice, this time focusing on issues for people with disabilities. We’ll be reading Disability Visibility, First-Person Stories From the Twenty-First Century, edited by Alice Wong. This is a collection of essays written by people with a range of disabilities, including intellectual, sight, hearing, mental health, and physical disabilities. We will focus on five of the pieces: Unspeakable Conversations (PDF), The Isolation of Being Deaf in Prison, We Can’t Go Back (PDF), How a Blind Astronomer Found a Way to Hear the Stars (TED talk), and Falling/Burning.
